Interior Design & Home Styling

Rooms that feel like the people who live in them.

Design at 39 is an independent studio making homes that are genuinely comfortable, considered and characterful — not a showroom approximation of someone else's life.

The approach

Good design starts with how a room is actually used

The most useful question in any project is not "what style do you like?". It is "how do you spend your evenings in this room?" A living room for someone who reads in the low lamp light has entirely different needs from one that doubles as the family homework station.

Every project begins with a proper conversation about how you use your home, what already works, what irritates you, and what you want to feel walking in at the end of the day. The scheme follows from that — not the other way around.

About the studio

What we do

Three ways to work together

From a single room colour scheme to a whole-home redesign, each service is structured around what a project actually needs.

Full Service

Full interior design

Concept through to completion — space planning, material and furniture specification, trade sourcing and install coordination for one room or a whole house.

Styling

Styling & finishing touches

The room is already furnished. It just does not quite come together. A styling session addresses arrangement, layering, light and the details that make a space feel resolved.

Colour & Materials

Colour & material schemes

A considered palette with specific paint references, flooring, soft furnishings and finish recommendations, so every decision in the room is part of the same conversation.

A home should hold a bit of history, a bit of ambition, and a lot of actual life.

Remote design

E-design for homes outside London

Not everyone needs a designer in the room to get a room right. The e-design service delivers a full scheme (space plan, material boards, furniture list with live links and a written guide) so you can take it to your own trades or shop at your own pace.

It suits people who are confident making decisions but want a clear, well-considered direction to follow. Everything is presented in plain language, not design jargon.
